A Seiko “SB” reference is a Japan-catalogue number, not proof the watch is Japan-only. Most SB references have an international twin selling the identical watch under a different number — the SBDC101 and the SPB143 are the same diver. The genuinely Japan-only set is smaller than the internet suggests, and it moves in both directions: King Seiko left it in 2024, the Frogman has crossed in both directions. JDM stands for Japan Domestic Market — a watch officially sold only through Japan's home retail catalogue. It describes distribution, not quality: a JDM piece is not a better or higher-spec version by definition, it is simply one the maker never routed to overseas distributors.
No. SBDC, SBSA, SBDY and similar prefixes are Japan-catalogue numbers, and most of those watches also sell abroad under a different reference — the SBDC101 and the SPB143 are the same diver. Only a smaller set has no international equivalent at all.
Casio does not publish one, which is why the question has gone unanswered on r/gshock for years. The Japan-only layer is still identifiable: a '-JF' tail marks the Japan Domestic Market version, and Oceanus, current Frogman production and several 5000-series editions sit in it as of the dates listed in the tracker above.
